NMDC has announced two fully sponsored educational initiatives for tribal youth in Chhattisgarh under its CSR programs
In a remarkable step towards inclusive development and social empowerment, NMDC Limited, India’s largest iron ore producer, has unveiled two fully sponsored educational programs for tribal youth in Chhattisgarh under its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The newly announced programs—‘Balika Shiksha Yojana’ and a transformative Medical Technology Program—aim to provide quality education and professional opportunities to underprivileged students from some of the most remote districts in the state.
🎓 Balika Shiksha Yojana: Free Nursing Education for Tribal Girls
As part of its commitment to women empowerment and healthcare access, NMDC is offering 100% free nursing education for tribal girls from the districts of Bastar, Dantewada, Sukma, Kondagaon, Bijapur, and Narayanpur.
This initiative offers a total of 200 seats, including:
- 110 seats for B.Sc. Nursing (4 years)
- 90 seats for GNM – General Nursing and Midwifery (3 years)
Education will be imparted through reputed institutions like:
- Apollo School of Nursing
- Yashoda School of Nursing
- KIMS College of Nursing, Hyderabad
All expenses—tuition, hostel, academic fees, and study material—will be fully covered by NMDC, with an estimated investment of ₹12 to ₹15 lakh per student.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community
- Family income should not exceed ₹72,000 per annum

🏥 Medical Technology Program: Skill-Based Healthcare Education
In collaboration with Apollo University, Chittoor, NMDC has also launched a Medical Technology Program to offer professional healthcare education to both tribal boys and girls from Dantewada and Bastar districts.
A total of 90 fully funded seats are available in the following B.Sc. Allied Healthcare Programs:
- Emergency Medical Technology
- Medical Lab Technology
- Anaesthesiology & Operation Theatre Technician
- Imaging Technology
- Physician Assistant
- Renal Dialysis Technology
Reservation Policy:
- 60% seats for girls
- 40% seats for boys
Each selected student will receive financial support worth ₹12–₹15 lakh, covering all academic and residential expenses.
